Terms of Service
Effective: 1st August, 2026
Signing an agreement for your organization? See our Master Service Agreement.
1. Who these terms apply to
These Terms of Service apply to you if you use Untether, the workforce scheduling software provided by Untether Labs Inc (“Untether Labs,” “we,” “us”), through an employer or other organization that has an agreement with us (your “Organization”). Your Organization’s subscription is governed by its own agreement with us, usually our Master Service Agreement. By using Untether, you agree to these terms.
2. Your account
Your Organization gives you access to Untether and can change or remove it at any time. Each account is for one person. Keep your login details secure, do not share them, and tell us or your Organization right away if you think someone else has used your account. Keep your profile information, including your contact details, accurate.
3. Your Organization and Untether Labs
Your Organization decides how it uses Untether, including your schedule, shift assignments, time and attendance rules, and who can see your information. Untether Labs provides the software. We are not your employer or a party to your employment or engagement. Questions about your shifts, pay, or work policies go to your Organization.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to access accounts or data you are not authorized to access; share your account; enter false time, attendance, or availability information; copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with Untether; upload malicious code or unlawful content; or use Untether in violation of any law or your Organization’s policies.
5. Information you submit
Information you enter into Untether, such as availability, time entries, time-off requests, and messages, is held on behalf of your Organization, which controls it. You allow us to store and process it to provide Untether to you and your Organization, as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Our software
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use Untether, including our mobile apps, for your work with your Organization while you have access. We and our licensors own Untether and all related intellectual property. If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.
7. Notifications
Untether sends notifications about your work in the app, by email, and by push notification on our mobile apps. You can manage them in Settings, then Notifications, within the options your Organization allows. Text message notifications are optional and are covered by the SMS Terms in Section 15.
8. Third-party services
Some features connect to services you or your Organization choose, such as Google Calendar or a single sign-on provider. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.
9. Not for emergencies or clinical decisions
Untether is a scheduling tool. It does not provide medical advice and is not a clinical system. Notifications can be delayed or missed, so do not rely on Untether for emergencies or urgent patient care communication, and confirm critical coverage directly with your Organization.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information.
11. Suspension and termination
Your access ends when your Organization removes you or its agreement with us ends. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms, if needed to protect Untether or its users, or if the law requires it.
12. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, Untether is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that notifications will always arrive on time.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Untether Labs will not be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost wages, profits, or data, arising from your use of Untether. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Untether is limited to US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law of the place where you live.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you live outside the United States, you keep any protections that the law of your place of residence gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.
15. SMS Terms
These SMS Terms apply to text messages sent by Untether Labs through the Untether Labs Shift Notifications program.
- Program. Untether Labs sends text messages about your work schedule on behalf of your Organization.
- What you’ll receive. Open shifts, shift assignments, schedule changes, shift cancellations, missed clock-in reminders, and invitations to install the Untether mobile app. We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
- How you opt in. Sign in to Untether, go to Settings, then Notifications (app.untetherlabs.com/settings/notifications), confirm your mobile number, and check the box agreeing to receive texts. You can also request texts at untetherlabs.com/policy-sms-opt-in, which takes you to sign in and turn them on. We send a confirmation text when you opt in. Texting is optional. It is not a condition of your employment or engagement, or of using Untether.
- Message frequency. Varies with your schedule and how often your shifts change.
- Cost. Untether Labs does not charge for text messages. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.
- How to opt out. Reply STOP or ARRET to any message. You’ll receive one text confirming you’ve opted out, and no further texts. You can also uncheck the box in Settings, then Notifications. Reply START to opt back in. Opting out of texts does not stop in-app or email notifications.
- Help. Reply HELP or AIDE to any message, or email support@untetherlabs.com.
- Delivery. Text delivery is not guaranteed and may be delayed. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Your number. Keep your mobile number current in Settings, then Notifications. If you change or give up your number, opt out first or update it so we stop texting the old number.
- Privacy. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your mobile number and messaging data.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Untether after that, the updated terms apply.
